In the architectural and design community, traits like
knowledge, professionalism, customer service, and involvement are important for
success. And those are some of the traits for which one of our regional sales
managers was recently recognized.
Kathy Greenway, CSI, CDT, regional sales manager architectural products-southwest United States, received the Jim Butler Memorial Award from the West Region of the Construction Specifiers Institute (CSI). CSI is an organization of professionals involved in construction design and specification. The Butler award is given to someone for distinguished service, inspired fellowship, and other outstanding contributions to their chapter and region.
Kathy Greenway was nominated for the award by the Inland Empire, California CSI Chapter.
“Kathy consistently donates copious time and energy to the
advancement of CSI throughout the West Region for over 15 years,” said George
Balteria, Inland Empire chapter co-president. “As the latest West Region
recipient of this award, Kathy greatly personifies all the attributes of
service, friendliness, professionalism, and fellowship which are the basis of
the Jim Butler Award.”
During her years of volunteering with CSI, Kathy has served on the boards of directors of the Inland Empire CSI Chapter, the Los Angeles CSI Chapter, and the Orange County CSI Chapter.
“Draper Inc, and especially Kathy has been a great help on
my institutional projects. Many of my clients have benefited from her knowledge
and professionalism,” said David Koons, CSI, CCS, LEED AP BD+C, of the Inland
Empire CSI Chapter. “Kathy has volunteered hundreds of hours in advancing the
goals of CSI. Professionals throughout California wrote letters of
recommendation for Kathy. The Jim Butler Memorial Award is one of the highest
awards the CSI Region can bestow on a member. Not many have been given this
honor. Kathy definitely deserves this prestigious award. Her leadership and
contributions on behalf of CSI are very much appreciated. “
“The most touching part about receiving the award is the effort that everyone took to prepare the document,” Kathy said. “It takes a lot of time to assemble all the documentation required I really appreciated the time everyone put in when they are all busy with their work and family schedules.”
Kathy first got involved with CSI through a friend who was a
specification writer. She felt the organization would help her better understand
the specification and construction process. While that has happened, she has
gotten much more out of her involvement.
“We don’t get enough ‘thank yous’ in our normal everyday jobs. Getting involved and helping gives me a sense of appreciation,” she said. “I have made some long-time friends that I will always be a part of my life. And, of course, I can’t rule out everything I learn at the meetings and technical sessions.”
Her involvement seems to have paid off in other ways, as
well. Kathy has been Draper’s top territory performer three times.
